🔬 The science, kept simple
Vitamin A comes two ways: ready-made retinol from animal foods, and beta-carotene from orange and dark green plants, which your body converts as needed. It builds the light-sensing pigment in your eyes, maintains the skin and the moist linings of your lungs and gut, and tunes the immune system.
Why you need it: Night vision, moist healthy eyes, skin repair, and the barrier linings that keep germs out.
Daily target: About 900 mcg RAE for men, 700 for women.
📖 In Scripture
The plant route is self-limiting and safe: your body converts beta-carotene only as needed. The abundance of the garden comes with its own built-in moderation.

⚖️ Worth knowing
Beta-carotene from food is safe (worst case, a harmless orange tint to the palms). Preformed vitamin A in high-dose supplements CAN be toxic and is dangerous in pregnancy... food first.
