How we rank
The number beside each remedy is a weighted score, not a raw count of anonymous clicks. It is the scientific method applied to testimony: authoritative sources and credentialed judgment set the baseline, and the community refines it through lived experience. Here is exactly how it works.
1. The evidence baseline (“source endorsements”)
Before anyone votes, each remedy carries a starting score that reflects the weight of published evidence behind it. The more respected sources that document a remedy for a given condition, the higher its baseline. In general terms:
- Each quality textbook or source-book that includes the remedy adds substantially to its score.
- Each independent, reputable health reference that corroborates it adds more — and more still when that source specifically lists the remedy rather than only mentioning the topic.
- Recognition as an established remedy for the condition adds a smaller amount.
Best of the best. When the same remedy is backed by several resources, their endorsements add together rather than creating duplicates. The more resources stand behind a remedy, the more its score reflects that depth of support.
2. Credentialed and community votes
On top of the evidence baseline, real people can vote a remedy up or down — one vote per person, per remedy. Not every vote carries the same weight:
- A verified physician’s vote carries substantially more weight than an ordinary vote.
- A verified health professional (nurse, dietitian, and similar) carries more weight than a general member.
- Members with a track record of trusted contributions and experience — and whose edits and submissions have been reviewed and approved — count for more than brand-new accounts.
- An ordinary member vote still counts: it is one honest voice among many.
This rewards credentialed judgment and demonstrated care without ever silencing lived experience.
3. Separate signals for evidence and gentleness
Popularity is not the same as safety or proof, so we keep them apart. Alongside the ranking number, each remedy shows separate Evidence and Gentleness signals. A remedy can be widely used and still be flagged as gentle-but-unproven, or well-evidenced but needing care — the score never quietly collapses those distinctions into one.
What can never move a ranking
Money never moves a ranking. Affiliate commissions, sponsorships, or donations have zero effect on where a remedy places. We do not sell our own branded supplements, and we never will. Rankings are not influenced by advertising or by anyone paying to appear.
Honesty about what this is
This is a considered, prayerful weighing of the best sources and the most credible voices we have — not a clinical trial. It is meant to help you think, alongside a qualified professional, never to replace one. See our medical disclaimer and how our content is made.
