Show full details & how to prepare it
A sitz bath simply means sitting in shallow warm water so that it covers the hips and bottom. It is a remedy hospitals still recommend, because the warm water increases blood flow to the area, relaxes the muscles, and gently cleanses and soothes tender, inflamed, or healing tissue. It is especially comforting for hemorrhoids, after childbirth or surgery in that region, and for general soreness.
Plain warm water is all that is needed; there is no need for additives. Inexpensive basins that fit over a toilet make the practice easy, but an ordinary bathtub with a few inches of water works just as well.

⚖️ Cautions
- Keep the water comfortably warm, not hot, to avoid burns or irritation of already-tender skin.
- If pain, bleeding, or swelling worsens or does not improve, see a doctor — a sitz bath soothes but does not cure underlying problems.
📚 Why we trust it
- A standard post-surgical and comfort therapy
- A traditional warm-water remedy
