Sliced Vurkey (Seitan)
Seitan loaf with poultry seasoning and nutritional yeast, sliced and served hot
🧺 What you'll need
- 1 (15oz) can of Chickpeas or White Beans, rinsed and drained
- 3/4 cups Water
- 2 Tbsp. Liquid Aminos (Bragg's)
- 1 Tbsp. Better Than Bouillon Vegetarian No Chicken Soup Base
- 3 Tbsp. Nutritional Yeast
- 1/2 tsp. Poultry Seasoning
- 1 tsp. Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
- 1 1/2 cups Vital Wheat Gluten (Gluten Flour)
- 3 cups Vegetable Broth
👩🍳 How to make it
- 1BLEND Chickpeas, Water, Liquid Aminos, Better Than Bouillon, Nutritional Yeast, Poultry Seasoning, Onion Powder, and Garlic Powder in a food processor or blender
- 2POUR mixture into a large mixing bowl
- 3KNEAD in gluten flour until it won't stick to your hands, then knead for 5-10 minutes longer
- 4FORM loaf with your hands
- 5POUR vegetable broth into the bottom of a medium to large pot with a steamer insert
- 6PLACE formed loaf into the steamer insert
- 7COVER and bring to a boil on high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 1 hour
- 8BASTE the loaf with 1/3 of the hot stock after 30 minutes and add more broth if needed
- 9REMOVE from steamer insert when done and place on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before slicing (Will firm with time)
