Herb
Mullein
This soft, velvety-leaved wild plant has been brewed into tea for generations to soothe the chest and quiet a stubborn cough.
🌱 What it is
Mullein is a tall wild plant with soft, fuzzy leaves and a spike of yellow flowers, traditionally dried and brewed as a soothing chest tea.
✨ How it may help
- May help support a soothed, calmer chest
- May help support relief from a stubborn cough
- May help support easier breathing during a seasonal cough
🥄 How to use it
Steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried mullein leaf or flower in hot water for 10 minutes, then strain well through a fine cloth or filter to catch the tiny hairs, and drink up to three cups a day.
⚖️ Caution
Always strain mullein tea well, since the fine leaf hairs can irritate the throat; see a doctor for any cough lasting more than three weeks or coming with fever, blood, or breathlessness.
🍃 A note from nature
Its soft, velvet leaves feel almost like a blanket for the chest — a gentle texture that seems made for comfort.
