🌿 Overview
Two species of amanita mushrooms are extremely common and poisonous: the death angel, whose poison acts like rattlesnake venom; and the fly amanita, which paralyzes heart nerves. Identification is critical — look for a veil halfway up the shaft, a bulbous base, and flecks on the cap. Emergency care is required immediately.
Common signs
- Intense stomach pains (immediate symptoms)
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Death angel: separates blood corpuscles from serum — liver and kidney failure
- Fly amanita: paralyzes nerves controlling heart action
- Progressive organ failure and death if untreated
