Herb
Juniper Berry
A small piney blue berry, used sparingly and briefly as a traditional gentle helper for fluid retention.
🌱 What it is
Juniper berry is the small, blue-purple, pine-scented cone-berry of the juniper shrub, traditionally steeped as a short-course tea in modest amounts.
✨ How it may help
- May help support the body's natural release of excess fluid
- May help support urinary tract comfort
- May help support digestion in small culinary amounts
- May help support a brief, gentle seasonal reset
🥄 How to use it
Steep 3–5 lightly crushed juniper berries in hot water for 10 minutes and sip once or twice a day for short periods only (a week or two at most).
⚖️ Caution
Use short-term only, as prolonged use can irritate the kidneys; avoid entirely in pregnancy (it can stimulate the uterus) and with kidney disease, and it may affect blood sugar or interact with diuretics and diabetes medicines.
🍃 A note from nature
It's a small marvel that a piney little berry, meant to be used sparingly, still carries such a focused, purposeful gift.
